Holistic nutrition is based upon ancient dietary principles
and modern research on the effects of the environment, emotion,
and spiritual influences of the food we eat, the water we
drink, and the air we breathe. While many American-trained
“dieticians” were educated with the basic knowledge of carbohydrate,
protein and fat, and how to control common diseases such as
diabetes and hypertension through diet, this limited scope
is inadequate to deal with the physical and mental stresses
of modern living.
The healthcare of this century will include holistically-oriented
nutritionists who take into account the influence of the terrain
in which our food is grown, how food is harvested, and best
prepared. When the diet of an individual is not adequate the
nutritionist will recommend optimal levels of vitamins, minerals,
and trace and accessory nutrients that may optimize health
and hopefully minimize disease based on cutting-edge research
by individuals such as Elson Haas, M.D., author of Staying
Healthy With Nutrition.
These healthcare providers also recognize the role of detoxification
to help rid the body of wastes and environmental pollutants
and the role of the emotional status of their clients as increased
stress on our bodily systems increases our nutritional requirements.
In the height of the Greek, Roman Empire, Chinese and Oriental
physicians began the study of the human body, separating it
into systems. The cycle of learning has turned to recognize
that we must study not only how systems of the body relate
to each other, but the influence of mind, body, spirit and
environment. The holistic nutritionist assumes an important
role in this paradigm shift in healthcare, as the foods and
liquids we ingest truly influence every aspect of our existence.
Course Introduction
KPL offers a 15 hour introduction to holistic nutrition.
The course focuses on both Western and Ayurveda Nutritional
aspects, which includes the practical side of Ayurveda Nutrition,
energy aspects of food, 15 types of ayurveda herbs and Western Science theory.
Course Objectives
This course is intended to provide healthcare givers and anyone
who is new to ayurveda nutrition with in-depth clinical concepts
and tools they need to help their patients. It will lay the
foundation for those keen to pursue further in the field of
holistic nutrition. A certificate of attendance will be issued
by KPL Resources.
