Target Audience: Maids, Care giver, Holistic Practitioners, Para-medical personnel and Family members
The above course will include health care tasks, health monitoring, personal hygiene services, and other related supportive services essential to the patients ’ health. In addition she will be trained in First Aid and holistic Care.

COURSE DURATION

• 20 hours for Chronic Home Management
• 20 hours for practical hours
• 18 hours for First Aid ( with a approved First Aid License – 3years)

COURSE OUTLINE

Specialised Skills for Chronic Home Management will cover the 10 core skills necessary to manage care at Home. This series will show learners the core skills in an easy-to-follow, step-by-step format.
By allowing the learners to observe the skills from start to finish, and a return demonstration, they will have a better understanding of everything they’ll need to know including all of the equipment they’ll need and how long each procedure takes from start to finish.
This module aims to equip participants with the knowledge of the following:

Module 1 – First Aid
Arrest Hemorrhage, removal of foreign body, accidental poisoning, bandaging

Module 2 General Observation
Vital Signs taking i.e. Blood Pressure, Temperature, Pulse and Respiration and colour of Skin), Blood glucose monitoring

Module 3 Infection Control
Disinfection, Disposal and Hand washing
Dressing technique

Module 4 Personal Hygiene and Grooming
Bed bathing, commode bathing, oral and skin care, prevention of bedsores

Module 5 The Importance of Promoting Mobility and Independence
Mobilisation, transfer and Turning of bedridden patient

Module 6 Nutrition and Fluid Balance & Medication
Nasogastric / gastrostomy tube feeding and other special feeding.
Administration of medication, oral, topical , sprays and drops

Module 7 Elimination
Evacuation and Management include colostomy care, suppository or fleet enema. Bladder care and management.

Module 8 Special treatment
• giving of subcutaneous injection
• administration of oxygen therapy

Module 9 : Supportive Caring for the Dying
Pain relief
Symptom control

Module 10 : Alternative and Complementary Medicine
• Holistic diet and Cooking
• Integrative Medicine Programs
